Ryan Library offers faculty the opportunity to place course-related items on library reserve, provided that use of the material complies with US Copyright Law (Title 17 U.S.C. Section 107) and the fair use guidelines. Placing materials on reserve allows many students to access the same books, lecture notes, or other materials within a short timeframe.
Reserve materials are stored at the library's front desk and circulate for limited time periods ranging from 1 hour to 2 days.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with questions regarding copyright and your class materials.
In addition to our regular Reference and Circulation services, we provide the opportunity for you to place certain kinds of supplemental course material on Reserve at the library:
Course Reserve: You may place your personal materials or library-owned materials on Reserve at the library circulation desk. These items are made available for 1-hour, 2-hour, 1-day, or 2-day checkout, based upon your preference. By limiting the loan period on these materials, all of the students in a given class can access a particular item within a relatively short period.
A completed Reserve request form must accompany materials submitted for Reserve. You may duplicate this form for your future requests, or you may access blank forms in Forms Central within the Faculty Shared Folder. Items may be cross-listed for multiple courses if needed. Please allow 2 business days to prepare items for circulation; processing time may be longer during high-volume periods.
Restrictions on items to be submitted:
We encourage you to contact the library with any questions you may have about either the policy or the process for Reserve items:
