The below websites provide ebooks for free, so a login is not required. Many of the ebooks provided are in the public domain and published before 1928.

Use this option when requesting items that are not available at Ryan Library:

      InterLibrary Loan

• Articles, books, and other materials can be requested from InterLibrary Loan.

***Ebooks are rarely available via InterLibrary Loan***      (Licensing restrictions limit the sharing of digital resources.)

• Ebook chapters may be more readily obtained than the entire book. Keep this in mind when placing requests and be specific about chapters/page numbers when possible.
• Books requested via InterLibrary Loan take a minimum of 7-10 business days to receive.
• Loan periods and renewal availability vary depending on the participating libraries.
• Overdue fines will apply.

Foreign Relations of the United States

• This is a book series published by Office of the Historian in the United States Department of State
• Ryan Library has print copies from 1935—1952 at call # 327.73 U58f on the Middle Level, but before you pull them off the shelf, you can keyword search digital copies online through the University of Wisconsin (1861-1960)
  • Once in the UW website, scroll down to the box on the right labeled "Search within text" and type in your keyword(s)
  • The State Department website allows you to browse Foreign Relations of the United States by year/presidential administration
    • Choose a president, click on the hyperlinked text "view and search within the available documents" and type in your keyword(s) in the search box
