Types of Exegetical Resources

The following types of reference sources will be of help to you in doing exegetical work:

  • Concordance
  • Lexicon
  • Bible Dictionary
  • Commentary

There are many of these sources here in Ryan Library, primarily in the Reference area.

To find a specific title (as listed on the Resources page from Dr. Lyons-Pardue), simply look for that title in WorldCat, our library catalog.

Hint: When looking up a specific book in WorldCat, put the title in quotes before searching.

Other useful resources (for finding definitions, etc.):

How To Do A Word Study …without knowing Hebrew or Greek (from APU Library)

Biblical Studies Resources (from Harvard Divinity School Library)

(Library Tools for Biblical Exegesis from Duke Divinity School Library)
