We welcome back ACL members who visited us when we last hosted ACL in 2000, and those who count this as their first trip to "America's Finest City."

More Than True

Our conference theme, “More than True,” comes from Neil Gaiman’s paraphrase of a G. K. Chesterton quote:

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”

ACL 2013 will provide opportunities to share the wisdom you’ve gained through scholarship and experience.   It will encourage you to learn from each other’s creative solutions and to enjoy the community of faith within our discipline. 

We hope you will be inspired by your colleagues and that you’ll make the most of every opportunity to think together about the issues that face your students, your institution, and your library.

 With this theme, we acknowledge the “fairy tale” setting we enjoy here at Point Loma while celebrating creativity and our God-given imagination.

 Although our focus will be on innovative and creative solutions for positive change in our libraries, we are well-aware that we happen to be in a lovely location, home to Sea World, historic Old Town, Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, Cabrillo National Monument, terrific beaches, the world famous San Diego Zoo, the USS Midway Museum, Balboa Park, Legoland, Seaport Village, and the ever-improving San Diego Padres….

Well, you get the point.  There’s lots to do here after the conference.
